About Us
Here at Lab, we do things slightly different. We have a 200L kit, brewing small batch beer for all. Whether it’s a traditional northern bitter, a hearty Oatmeal Stout, or a contemporary and modern take on the West Coast IPA, we have something for everyone.

Yorkshire at Heart
We brew in the heart of Yorshire, in the old mining town of Castleford. All our malt is sourced locally from Fawcetts Maltsters, based here in the town.
Meet the team!
Benji
The Original Labrador
Benji is no longer with us unfortunately but he is where the idea for the name, and having our beers based around Labradors came from. His favourite things were long walkies over mountains, time at the beach and snuggly snoozy afternoons…nothing like his younger brother. The OG Stout is his beer.
Teddy
Head of Marketing...and chasing squirrels.
Teddy is our head of marketing…or better put, he’s the cute one. Just like Benji he loves long walkies and playing on the beach. Unlike Benji, he hasn’t learned to just sit and chill yet. Our Westcoast IPA, Teddy Westside is his beer, big bold flavours,
Josh
Brewer and founder
Josh began his brewing journey whilst on work experience from school at the now defunct Oakwell Brewery in Barnsley. He continued working there through his summers at Uni, were he got a physics degree. After working in education, Josh went back to brewing and worked for Little Black Dog Brewing Co, in Cartlon Towers, Selby. The combination of the very traditional brewing methods of Oakwell and the more modern, craft style brewing at Little Black Dog, is what has given Josh his signature style.
Lucy
CEO and founder
If Josh doesn’t do it, Lucy does. Whether thats event organising and planning, making sure the paperwork is up to date, or anything else, it’s Lucy who will sort it. Lucy balances this whilst still being a full time teacher in secondary schools, where she and Josh met.
